Looking Back on the Geek Dinner on DataPortability (with Photos and Video)

During the latest Geek Dinner we learned that DataPortability is a very interesting topic, sparking emotions with many, both positively and negatively. Lucky for us Paul and Ian proved to be very able to hold up their own in the hour-long discussion around the DataPortability workgroup. Below are the photos.

We also tried to stream the talk, but the “The Cloud”-hotspot died after about 10 minutes making even normal internet communication impossible. Maybe next time. Improbulus recorded most of the talk though, which is actually interesting to listen at if you weren’t there. Click through to the full article to see the video.

Geek Dinner Ustream Broadcast

By popular demand we have decided to set up a Ustream of the talk tonight. We got someone to give us access to the BT Openzone and have setup a Ustream channel in preparation. Tonight the talk will start at about 8:30, and you can watch the video here. Unfortunately I think we do still need a better microphone cause in-build microphones for laptops sound awful in video streams. So, if you have a decent mic solution for tonight, please bring it along!

Werewolf Night [First of 2008] - Tuesday 5th Feb

Werewolf

Its time for Werewolf

Werewolf is a game that takes place in a small village which is haunted by werewolves. Each player is secretly assigned a role - Werewolf, Villager, or Seer (a special Villager). There is also a Moderator player who controls the flow of the game. The game alternates between night and day phases. At night, the Werewolves secretly choose a Villager to kill. Also, the Seer (if still alive) asks whether another player is a Werewolf or not. During the day, the Villager who was killed is revealed and is out of the game. The remaining Villagers then vote on the player they suspect is a Werewolf. That player reveals his/her role and is out of the game. Werewolves win when there are an equal number of Villagers and Werewolves. Villagers win when they have killed all Werewolves. Werewolf is a social game that requires no equipment to play, and can accomodate almost any large group of players.
